YMCA Frederick Kid’s Triathlon and
YMCA Frederick Duathlon/Triathlon

For the last 11 years, the YMCA has been proud to host multisport events. These races are a part of the continued focus on building a healthy mind, body, and spirit. All of our participants, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers play an enormous part in strengthening community together! We couldn’t offer these events without each and every one of you.

As the new South County Family YMCA comes to life and anticipated to open in spring 2021, our hope is to move the races to Urbana for 2021 and offer the same quality, if not more, to the community. As we continue to work on the events to increase the amount of interest and educate the community on the importance of multisport and race events, the decision has been made to suspend the 2020 events. This is very bittersweet for me because I truly enjoy getting to know the athletes and watching all the fun!!! But the time will give us the opportunity to host the races at our own facility and utilize the surrounding areas for the bike and run segments of the races.

In the meantime, there are options to join races in nearby communities. Ken Racine of Racinemultisports, LLC is our timing management company and offers kids’ triathlons and adult triathlons and duathlons in Hagerstown and other areas in Maryland and Virginia. (www.racinemultisports.com) Brian Lausch, Founder of Mini Cow Youth Triathlon Club offers kid’s triathlons during the race season. The Y’s kid’s triathlon has always been a part of the Maryland Youth Triathlon Series and Brian’s Club is also an active member. (www.minicowtriclub.com). Check out their website and race schedules for 2020.

We will continue to offer our race event in December 2020.

Save the date for December 12, 2020, for our Santa Run 5k/10k and 1 mile Elf Run. Registration is open. https://runsignup.com/Race/MD/Frederick/SantaRun5K10K

We are looking forward to building quality duathlon/triathlon and race events for you and look forward to our 2021 launch of the YMCA Urbana Triathlon/Duathlon for adults and youth. If you have an interest in participating on the planning team, please contact me.

Best,
